There is a new attitude on the farm. Small Farm Rising is a one-hour documentary film inspired by first-generation farmers who have reinvented the small farm in America. Filmed in the beautiful Champlain Valley and Adirondack Mountains of New York State, the documentary follows a group of farmers from three unique farms as they usher plants, land, and animals through an entire growing season. Supported by consumer demand, small-scale agriculture is a benefit to the health of local economies and the communities they serve. Small Farm Rising documents innovations in small farm ventures with the hope of inspiring a new generation of farmers and consumers to reshape the American agriculture paradigm.
Adirondack Harvest has partnered with photographer/director/editor Ben Stechschulte, and Mountain Lake PBS to produce a film about this emerging sector in agriculture. Small Farm Rising is the follow-up to Adirondack Harvest and Ben Stechschulte’s 2004 documentary Three Farms.
